FDA announces recall of HVP: Hydrolized vegetable protein (HVP), a paste or powder distributed by Basic Food Flavors, Inc., may be contaminated with Salmonella. HVP is a widely-distributed product that provides a savory flavoring to foods ranging from soup and boullion to potato chips, snack foods and dip. This recall is expected to "balloon" in the next few weeks, so be sure to check the FDA website noted here for current information: http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/HVPCP/
