15th Annual HTMP Competition

The 15th Annual HTMP Competition will take place Monday, March 5, and Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando.  The FRLAEF will cover some costs of the competing teams, including hotel stay and meals. Competition rules are below.

Based on feedback received after the 2017 event, the FRLAEF intends to modify the timeline for the 2018 event.  The FRLAEF’s intention is to begin the 2018 competition after lunchtime on Monday, March 5, 2018.  This will allow schools to travel in on Monday and not have to travel over the weekend.  The  competition will end with an early evening awards dinner on Tuesday, March 6, 2018.  For schools with a long drive, the adjusted timeline may entail some teams stay overnight at the Rosen Plaza on Tuesday.

The FRLAEF will cover the cost of your hotel room nights for Monday, March 5 and Tuesday, March 6, 2018 (if needed).  We will also cover meals from dinner on Monday through dinner on Tuesday. Each school is responsible for their travel costs. A proposed agenda is above.

Post-secondary schools may award scholarships to the students placing in the top five in each competition.  The FRLAEF will provide medals to each student placing in the top five in each competition. The FRLAEF will provide scholarships for the teams that place first, second, and third overall.

The FRLAEF has a room block reserved at the Rosen Plaza Hotel. We will be taking care of your hotel rooms nights, just indicate on your School Entry Form what you need. Self-parking is free. Valet parking is $20/day and will be on your own.

Competition attire is listed in full on page three of the Rules.

All HTMP competing team members and instructors are invited to be our guests at the Salute to Excellence Awards dinner. This dinner takes place the evening of Sunday, March 4 and begins at 6:30 PM.  The dinner showcases FRLAEF Scholarship recipients, Hospitality Excellence recipients (more about that later), HTMP & ProStart Teacher of the Year as well as ProStart Competition awards.

Each HTMP teacher may recognize their top student for the Hospitality Excellence Awards.  During the awards dinner, the student is called to the stage and presented with a certificate.  If your Hospitality Excellence Awards recipient is unable to attend the dinner, we will mail the award to him/her.  Use THIS LINK if you want to recognize one of your students. Please use this link to RSVP to the dinner if you have not already done so.
