FRLA Northeast Chapter awards the Claude Collins Hospitality Scholarship to deserving students who work at FRLA Northeast Chapter member businesses or whose parents are employees of these businesses. In addition, we offer training grants to support employee development.
The 2025 Scholarship application window has now closed. The deadline to submit an application was June 15, 2025.
Child of a parent who is employed at a FRLA Northeast member business
- This scholarship will be awarded to a child of an employee of a FRLA member.
- Employee must have worked at business for at least one year.
- Student must be enrolled/plan to enroll in a college within the State of Florida (Proof of enrollment will be required).
- Student must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Resume and two letters of recommendation are required.
- Up to two scholarships will be awarded, the scholarship amount is a maximum of $1,000.
- NOTE: This scholarship may be granted to the same individual for up to two consecutive years.
Employee at a FRLA Northeast Chapter member business attending college
- This scholarship will be awarded to an employee of a FRLA member business.
- Employee must have worked at business for at least one year.
- Student must be enrolled in a college within the State of Florida (Proof of enrollment will be required).
- Student must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Resume and two letters of recommendation are required.
- Up to two scholarships will be awarded, the scholarship amount is a maximum of $1,000.
- NOTE: This scholarship may be granted to the same individual for up to two consecutive years.
Employer/Employee Training Business Grant- NEW!
- This new grant category is available for FRLA member businesses seeking support for employee training initiatives aimed at improving service quality, enhancing guest experiences, and boosting employee retention.
- The training program must be completed by December 1, 2025 to be eligible for reimbursement.
- Up to two grants will be awarded, this is a reimbursement grant up to $500.
- Preference will be given to active FRLA Northeast Chapter members who participate in chapter events.
Suggested Eligible Training topics:
- Customer service excellence
- Conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques
- Upselling techniques
- Leadership and management development
- Language training for guest interaction
- Digital tools
- Sales training
- Mental health and wellness initiatives
Non-eligible:
- Food safety and hygiene certifications
- Barista, bartending, or culinary skills
- No branded training, company/brand/management company training
Only complete applications will be considered by the FRLA Scholarship Committee & Board of Directors.
Scholarship winner will be notified and awarded in July.
