Northeast Chapter Scholarship Program- Claude Collins Hospitality Scholarship

The Claude Collins Hospitality Scholarship recognizes deserving students who are pursuing further education in the hospitality industry.  FRLA Northeast Chapter awards four different types of scholarships.

Applications must be submitted with all supporting documentation by: September 30, 2019

1)    Hospitality or Culinary College programs within the State of Florida

  • Student must be enrolled at any Hospitality or Culinary college program within the State of Florida
  • Student must have at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA
  • Student must have successfully completed two semesters of college
  • Student must have graduated from a high school or college program, currently reside or immediate family resides in Baker, Clay, Duval, Putnam, Nassau, or St. Johns county.
  • Up to two scholarships will be awarded ranging from $1,000-$3,000. Applications are accepted July-September for Spring tuition and will be awarded in November/December.
  • FSCJ Students ONLY- If awarded the scholarship, the funds will be deposited into the student’s tuition account. This scholarship can only be used towards tuition and textbooks. Proof of enrollment will be required

2)    Continuing Education

  • This is a tuition reimbursement scholarship awarded to hospitality employees who are seeking further education in their respective field.
  • The student must have been an employee for at least one year at a FRLA member place of business.
  • Students can attend a certification program, state college or university in the state of Florida.
  • Student must receive a B- (2.75) or higher in the classes or pass the certification exam to be awarded the scholarship.
  • Up to two scholarships will be awarded ranging from $500-$1,000. Applications are accepted July-September and awarded in November/December. Reimbursement will be made after the completion of the class/program. A transcript or exam certificate or transcript is required for reimbursement.

3)   Graduating Senior (of a parent who is employed at a FRLA member business)

  • This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school student whose parents are employed at a FRLA member business. Employee must have worked at business for at least one year.
  • Student must have attended high school in Baker, Clay, Duval, Putnam, Nassau, or St. Johns county.
  • Student must be enrolled/plan to enroll in a college within the State of Florida (Proof of enrollment will be required).
  • Student must have at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA
  • Up to two scholarships will be award, the scholarship amount is a maximum of $1,000. Applications are accepted July-September for Spring tuition and will be awarded in November/December.

4)    Graduating Florida ProStart Senior

  • This scholarship will be awarded to a senior who has completed the ProStart program in Baker, Clay, Duval, Putnam, Nassau, or St. Johns county.
  • Emphasis is given to students who have participated in Moon Over the Market or with other FRLA Northeast events.
  • Student must be enrolled/plan to enroll in a college or culinary training program within the State of Florida (Proof of enrollment will be required).
  • Student must have at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA
  • Up to two scholarships will be award, the scholarship amount is a maximum of $1,000.  Applications are accepted July-September for Spring tuition and will be awarded in November/December.

Applications must be submitted with all supporting documentation by: September 30, 2019 .

Only complete applications will be considered by the FRLA Scholarship Committee & Board of Directors. Scholarship winner will be notified and awarded in November 2019 for use during Spring 2020 semester.
