Tallahassee – Dine for Disaster

On May 10, 2024, tornadoes devastated portions of the Tallahassee community. Our friends at the American Red Cross Capital Area Chapter stepped in immediately following the storm to render aid. Within hours, they opened a reception center for community members to have a safe place to sleep, and in the days following provided more than 550 overnight stays and served over 20,000 meals. We are grateful for the more than 120 Red Cross disaster workers who have helped our community get back on its feet.

Central Florida – Webinar: Orlando BioEnergy Update

Webinar: Orlando BioEnergy Update
May 21, 2024 • 3:00-4:00 PM EST
Register Below!

Join the FRLA Central Florida Chapter for a pivotal webinar to update our hospitality community on the Orlando BioEnergy facility and explore how local restaurants and hotels can engage with this innovative project. Discover how your business can contribute to and benefit from this essential regional development and be proud of your role in it. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to be at the forefront of sustainable energy and waste management solutions in Orlando.

Beginning in 2026, Central Florida’s businesses, residents and visitors will be able to turn their food scraps and other forms of organic waste into renewable natural gas. Groundbreaking for the Orlando BioEnergy facility (located near Orange County’s existing solid waste facilities) is expected to take place in the fall of 2024. When it opens, the cutting-edge facility will turn organic waste such as food scraps, leftover or expired food products, organic agricultural waste and other challenging waste streams into renewable natural gas, co2 and even compressed natural gas that can power commercial vehicles. The byproduct of the Orlando BioEnergy process after the gas is extracted is organic fertilizer that will be used locally to nourish pasture lands and other agricultural applications.

Presenters:
Soren Jorgensen, CEO Bigadan America
Joe Kefauver, Align Public Strategies
